Hand Surgery Fellowship
Hand Fellowship Application Information
Beginning with the fellowship positions for the 2025-2026 academic year (i.e. application cycle 2023-2024), the UMMC Hand Surgery Fellowship will function as a combined Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery Hand Fellowship program, giving both fellows the ultimate breadth and depth of exposure to the field. As such, ALL applicants to the Orthopaedic Hand Fellowship or the Plastic Surgery Hand Fellowship will be considered for BOTH positions!
The plastic and orthopaedic hand surgery fellowship programs participate in the NRMP match. You will find the two programs listed as follows:
- University of Mississippi Medical Center Hand Fellowship Division of Plastic Surgery
- University of Mississippi Medical Center Orthopaedic Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship
If you are interested in applying for a hand surgery fellowship position, complete and return the following documents to Theressa White, Education Administrator.
All hand surgery fellowship applicants will be considered for BOTH the Orthopaedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery Hand Fellowship positions beginning with applications submitted in 2023.

- Three letters of recommendation

Applications will be received starting November 15th with a deadline of January 31st for each fellowship year. You should receive email notification upon our receipt of your application. Interviews will be offered January through March.
All residency and fellowship programs at UMMC require state licensure (sponsored by UMMC). An applicant without U.S. citizenship must have either a J-1 Visa or Permanent Resident status (green card) in order to be employed at UMMC.
